Year 4

Year 4 is the second and final year of Learning Stage 2.

Getting involved

There are great opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular activities. These include competitions, exhibitions, sport, performances and special events. Student leadership programs provide many activities that broaden your child's experience at school.

Opportunity classes

An opportunity class placement Test is open to all Year 4 students to assess eligibility for opportunity class places. Opportunity classes are available for academically gifted and talented children in Years 5 and 6 at some schools. If you would like your child to sit this test, please ask us for an application package available from May. The test is held between late July and early August.

Welcome back to another busy year at Lane Cove West Public School.  The Year 4 teachers for 2017 are:

4C - Mr Kieran Campbell (R/Assistant Principal)

4A - Mrs Nikki Adams

4M - Miss Bronwyn Moncur

Throughout the year we have a range of exciting excursions and activities planned that support the study of our Personal Development, History, Geography and Science and Technology units, such as a visit from the Life Education van in Term 1, a trip to Featherdale Wildlife Park in Term 2 and Surf Education in Term 4.

We also enthusiastically anticipate the Stage 2 camp, where Year 4 will be staying overnight at Narrabeen Sport and Recreation Centre. The students will participate in a range of skill building tasks over a two day period.

Throughout the year, as well as weekly PE lessons, students are given the opportunity to try a different sport each term. These activities will be taught by expert instructors from outside the school. In Term 1, Year 4 participate in the Sports in School program, Term 2 provides the opportunity for students to try a zumba dance program. In Term 3, Years 3 and 4 have school sport and in Term 4 students participate in the Sports in School Skills Program.

As with other years, Year 4 will have a weekly creative arts lesson with Lindsay Lamb and a library class with our teacher librarian Mrs Lynette Potts. Your child's teacher will inform you of the days each activity will take place and the required supplies.

2017 is sure to be another great and busy year, which both students and teachers eagerly anticipate.
